ABOUT
The Wham Bam was a multimedia jam held in December 2016 at a chapel in Veasey Park, Massachusetts. The concept was simple: put many different kinds of artists together in a room and see what happens. The attendance list included musicians, dancers, visual artists, writers, videographers, photographers, and actors.
The jam lasted for four hours, divided into three parts: a warm-up free-for-all, a loosely structured and guided improvisation, and a cool-down free-for-all. The middle section was structured in seven movements, each with a title that was projected onto a wall to suggest a vague narrative to guide the improvisation, and a simple conducting language was established for this section so a conductor could manipulate elements of the music in real time. The videos on this website show six of those seven movements.

Since the event was in many ways inspired by a surge of protest activity in the United States, and this website was made amidst another such surge in the summer of 2020, this website is being used to raise money for the Massachusetts Bail Fund, which has been bailing protesters out of jail and helps poor people escape pre-trial detention.
